Letha Gay, age 80, passed away peacefully April 20, 2020 from respiratory complications due to the Coronavirus. She was born August 20, 1939 in Greeneville, Tennessee to the late Albert and Louise Wilson.
Letha Gay was a resident of Cleveland, Ohio for about 60 years. She worked at Warrensville Developmental Adult Center for 25 of those years. Most say that it takes a very strong person with a great heart and compassion for others, to be able to work with the mentally challenged.
At the end, she became a “Shero” to a community of her peers at the Woodside Senior Living Facility. The minute Letha became feverish, she did not hesitate to call an ambulance and admit herself into the University Hospital at Bedford. Later she was diagnosed with the Coronavirus. This single act saved the lives of many elderly residents where she lived, keeping them out of an immediate threat of contracting the virus.
Letha Gay will be sorely missed. She is survived by her son Virgil Wilson; brother Albert Wilson, his children Albertina Wilson, Denise Carr, Felicia Wilson, Albert Wilson Jr., Lulu Wilson; sister Marva Wilson Brown, her children Celia Brown, Jocelyn Brown, Norman Brown; a host of cousins, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, and friends.

Letha was a member of my therapeutic care team on House 6/100 at Warrensville Developmental Center. I was her first supervisor. She was a dedicated worker and enthusiastic. We spent many hours pondering life and service issues for years. My condolences to her family and cherished friends.
