I met Ms. Jones in the late 90’s when she lived in the Glenville neighborhood. As Community Outreach Manager for Parkworks, a nonprofit organization, I recruited residents to come up with ideas to plan fun events that would promote neighborhood engagement and bring residents together for fun, social and healthy activities.
Ms. Jones was a kind, caring and smart person who became a mentor and friend. I will never forget when she invited me to her home and asked if I wanted a slice of mango pie
topped with 1″ meringue. It was so good! I remember asking my mom to make this pie and it didn’t turn out that well. My mom told me not to tell Ms. Jones about her failed attempt to make this pie that I had bragged about.
It was a blessing to have met Ms. Jones and I extend my sincere condolences to Mrs. Earlyne Smith and family members and friends. God Bless her soul!
