Sylvesta Locke was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee on February 12, 1919 to the union of the deceased Clarence Searcy and Vessie Cook Searcy. She had two sisters, one is deceased and one is still living in Nashville, Tennessee. She attended school in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She accepted Christ at an early age and united with the Rose of Sharon Baptist Church in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She was joined in Holy Matrimony, on June 21, 1936 to Andrew Locke, now deceased. They were married seventy-six years. She was blessed with three children, one daughter, Atlee Louise Wilson, one son William Charles Locke, and one son Andrew Locke, Jr. who preceded her in death. She has seven grandchildren, two who preceded her in death. She has twenty-three great grandchildren of whom two preceded her in death and five great-great grandchildren. She was a deaconess and member of the choir of Starlight Baptist Church and The Second Lakeview Baptist Church until her health started failing. She made her transition at the home of her daughter on Monday Afternoon December 8, 2014. The family of the late Sylvesta Locke wishes to acknowledge with deep appreciation, the comforting messages, floral arrangements, prayers and other expressions of kindness during this very difficult time.

Funeral service Tuesday, December 16, 2014 7:00pm at Second Lakeview Baptist Church, 893 E.123rd Street. Family will receive friends at 6:30pm. Public viewing Monday, December 15, 2014 2:00pm-7:00pm and Tuesday, December 16, 2014 9:00am- 3:00pm at funeral home. Burial Wednesday, December 17, 2014 11am at Cleveland Memorial Gardens, 4324 S. Green Road Warrensville Heights , OH 44122. Please meet at the gate at 10:50am.
