Rosalind Taylor will truly be missed in our SAOLF Church Community. Her commitment to the choir, Eucharistic minister, and encouraging all those around her especially the youth will always be fondly remembered. Her encouraging of all who would to take swimming lessons from her was an inter generational highlight. May her family know that they are all in our prayers.

I was recently re-united with Rosalind at the Cleveland Skating Club, where she was a lifeguard. My brothers and I went to St. Agnes Grade School with her. I am currently the receptionist at Cleveland Skating Club where Rosalind in her short time here has made many loving friendships. She will be missed dearly as well as her outgoing vibrant personality. She was truly a soldier in Christ’s Army. Rest in peace Rosalind!!
    Sincerely, Carmen St. John

I will miss Rosalind’s friendly outgoing personality. Each time I came to the pool at the Cleveland Skating Club, she would greet me so warmly and share stories of her loving family. I am sure you all miss her terribly. She was truly a child of God.

Unfortunately I was just getting to know her at the Skating Club, and wish we had spent more time together. Her friendly smile and kind eyes told me there was a wonderful person and potential friend waiting to know better. I have no doubt her family will miss her terribly, and are blessed to have had her in their life. My thoughts are with them.

About two years ago, I walked into the Cleveland Skating Club pool. No one else was there, except a guard sitting by the windows reading. I passed her and said good morning. She looked up and said, “I was reading my prayer book. I don’t know where I’d be without my Catholic faith.” That began the first of many conversations with Rosalind. Though we had a lot in common: we are the same age, Catholic, the same number of children, I have never met anyone as full of joy and faith and love as Rosalind–or anyone as unafraid to proclaim it.

That passion affected her work. Rosalind was an excellent life guard. If you were in the water on Rosalind’s watch, you were safe. Rosalind had high standards and taught the younger guards them. l.

Rosalind loved her family dearly and was so proud of her children and grandchildren.

Monday I tearfully told my daughter Ann, who lives in Dallas with her family, that I had attended Rosalind’s funeral. I forgot that Ann had met Rosalind this past summer. Ann reminded me: “Mom, I met her. She was a saint.” Ann remembered everything about the conversation. That was Rosalind–one conversation made a lasting impression.

At the funeral Mass, Father Joyce reminded us that relationships continue after death. Rosalind’s two young granddaughters spoke after Mass about how they missed talking to their grandmother. I know how they feel, but we should remember what Father said about the communion of saints and continue to talk to Rosalind and ask her to pray for us.

Roz was truly a delight. At church she was so encouraging to all, especially the youth, in our walk of faith. After my son’s first Holy Communion she mentioned that she remembered and celebrated hers every year like her birthday. What a special walk she had with Jesus, and I know she is thrilled to continue praising Him with the host of heaven. But what a loss for those who grieve seeing her smile.
