Obituary
Gwendolyn Lue Greathouse was born on May 10, 1954 in Lineville, Alabama to the late Othel Greathouse and K.C. Ware. She was one of six children: Stella Clark, Jesse Greathouse, William Greathouse, Lilfel Greathouse, and Louzell Greathouse.
She matriculated through the corridors of East High School earning her high school diploma in 1973. Carrying her legacy inside, shortly after graduation, Gwendolyn would give birth to her only daughter, Angel Page. Determined to thrive, Gwendolyn Greathouse continued her education at a local technical college as a computer analyst.
In 1978, Gwendolyn moved to Orlando, Florida and moved into matrimony. Marrying the late Jerry Wright, she built life in the sunshine state as a Medical Secretary at Florida Hospital. Years later, upon her husband’s passing she would return to Cleveland, Ohio and reside there.
Ms. Wright was nurtured under the spiritual pastorship of Rev. Johnnie Twymon of Blessed Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Following the heritage of scripture’s promise of legacy, Gwendolyn Lue Greathouse Wright was privileged to have four grandchildren: LeeAndra Page, Stephanie Page (her birthday twin), Darnell Levert, and Isaiah Lindsey. From that generation, she was blessed with 10 great grandchildren: Kaiden, Makhi, Jakoby, Amiyah, Lyric, Jailynn, Kyrin, Karter, Kamoni, and DaCota
Time is God’s gift to us and that’s what He gave Gwendolyn Wright. In celebration of her 70th birthday, “Auntie Gwen” was whisked away on a memorable cruise by her oldest niece, Julia McCoy. Her threescore and ten was etched on the canvas of God’s beautiful waters and blue skies. On June 2nd, Gwendolyn Wright made her way to Tampa, FL to resume her annual celebration with her birthday twin, Stephanie Page. It was there she would find the long awaited peace and rest we all desire to come and know one day. After an evening of meaningful conversation and laughter with her daughter, she drifted off to sleep to enter eternal rest on June 4th, 2024.
She will forever be cherished by the family and friends that are left to mourn and carry memories. We are comforted by the words of the Apostle John.
“Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.” 1 John 3:2 (NIV)
Until He comes… rest on.
