MRS. CHARLOTTE HOLMES-LEGGETT

Passed away November 25, 2024. Viewing Monday, December 2, 2024 from 12:00 Noon – 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Wake & Funeral Mass Tuesday, December 3, 2024 – 10:30 & 11:00 am at Church of the Resurrection 32001 Cannon Road Solon, OH 44139. Repast following service at the church. Burial Information will be provided at a later date.

Obituary

Charlotte Denise Luke Holmes-Leggett was born on October 20, 1953, in Lakeside Hospital (University) to Irvin & Ruth Luke. Upon birth, she was baptized Catholic in St. Aloysius Church, 10932 St. Clair Ave, Cleveland, OH.

Charlotte graduated from St. Cecelia Catholic School, attended Beaumont School for Girls and graduated from Cuyahoga Community College with a degree in nursing. Further, she continued on to Cleveland State University where she earned a degree in business administration.

Charlotte married James Holmes and two children were born to the union, Jacques and Andre Holmes.

After the marriage to James Holmes was dissolved, Charlotte met and married Thomas Leggett Jr. , July 3, 1986.  Their marriage was blessed with the addition of a child, Chaundrel Leggett. Together, their combined families consisted of six children; Maurice, India, Marvel, Jacques, Andre, and Chaundrel.

Charlotte was a dedicated Catholic. She was a member of the Church of the Resurrection in Solon, Ohio.

Charlotte was always surrounded with children of all ages. She was the surrogate mother of many whom she provided with wisdom and companionship. Young people always held a special place in her heart.

Charlotte is survived by husband, Thomas Leggett Jr., sons; Jacques Holmes (Latoia), Andre Holmes (Jasmine), Chaundrel Leggett (Dameka) Maurice Collins,  Marvel Kyle, daughter, India  Collins, sisters, Sandra Artis; Tanya Montgomery, brother, Irvin Anthony Luke (deceased), foster sisters, Trudy Hudson, Brenda Hakeem-Brown,  and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

    Dear cousin growing up with you was so much fun. I remember all the crazy things we used to do. Climbing garages to pick cherries on Biltmore and playing tag on St Clair. I was happy that I saw you in August during the reunion I needed that. Fly High cousin and take your well deserved rest.
