Mr. Freddie Lee Parrish, Sr. was born on November 30, 1932, the
eleventh of twelve children, to Frank and Polly Parrish in Uniontown, AL. Freddie accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and personal
savior at an early age. Freddie later moved to Birmingham, AL
where his first child, Cynthia was born. Freddie later moved to
Cleveland, OH at the age of 21. Freddie married Ruthie Mae
Simmons. Freddie later met and was united in holy matrimony to
Patricia Ackerman on November 6, 1971.
Freddie was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener. Freddie also
loved to sing and was a member of the gospel singing group The
Union Stars for many years as well as a member of Grace Missionary Baptist Church. Although Freddie was active and had many
hobbies, his life’s passion was driving. Freddie worked as a truck
driver for over 5 decades. Freddie worked as an independent
contractor for LEAP and for Cunningham Construction at the end
of his long career. Although Freddie loved his career, what he
loved most was his family. Freddie was always available for his
family to help them when they needed him.
Freddie was called home to be with the Lord on February 27, 2021.
Freddie was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings:
Howard, Mary Lee, Roxie, Frank, Willie Mae, Henry, George, Odell,
Essie Mae, Leroy and Mattie. Freddie was also preceded in death
by 2 of his children, Cynthia and David and 1 grandson, Freddie.
Freddie leaves to cherish his memories, his wife Patricia Parrish; 1
sister: Corana; 4 children: Kelly (Fred), Lisa (Ronald), Freddie Jr.
(Michelle) and Victoria; 12 grandchildren: LaShan, Nikita (Douglas),
Deonte` (Michelle), Sharlysa, Michael, D’Angelo, Daniel, David,
Jadea, Mya, Kayla and Roger Jr.; 8 great-grandchildren: Dominique,
Jermanee, Nia, Kal-el, Nyla, Khaleesi, Paris, Ma’caiya, and awaiting
the arrival of Khyra; 1 great-great grandson, Karti, and a host of
nieces, nephews and friends.
