Howard Searcy, second child of the late Rev. Gorman Searcy and Rose Howard Searcy, born Nov. 30, 1941. Howard accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior under the leadership of Rev. N. B. McKinney, baptized by Elder C.P. Edmondson. Howard served as Jr & Senior deacon under Deacon Shelton Tufts, Howard is currently member of New Light Missionary Baptist Church. Howard attended St. Anthony Bridget Parochial Elementary School and Thomas Edison High School. Howard was employed at Cleveland Builders Supply Company for three years. He retired from Midland Steel with thirty two years in service; Howard was never tardy with perfect attendance. Howard married the love of his life Mary Delores Smith on Jan 1, 1968 forty seven years ago. God blessed this union with three children, Yolanda, Howard Jr., and Charles Bryant. Howard loved the Annual Searcy and Gorman Family Reunion. Howard was the Bar B-Q ribs and chicken champ! He loved everyone and everyone loved him. He was loved by preachers, teachers, friends, family co-workers and neighbors. He will be missed by many. He leaves to mourn; beloved wife Mary, one daughter Yolanda, two sons Howard Jr., Charles Bryant (Makia), seven grandchildren, four brothers, Gorman Gregory (Maria), David (Andrea), Rev Samuel Dewayne, Jacob, four Sisters, Queenola (Marvin), Ora Lee Burks, Goddess Marie Kimbrough, Victoria Wilson, one sister-in-law Eurabell Harper, two brothers-in-law Joseph Smith and Robert Smith and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Howard Searcy passed away February 13, 2014. Funeral service Saturday, February 21, 2015 1030am at New Light Missionary Baptist Church, 12700 Corlett Ave. Family will receive friends at 10am. Public viewing Friday, February 20, 2014 10am-7pm at funeral home.
