Sister Diane was one of the kindest Christian sisters I’ve ever known. I knew her as a dedicated mother, and proud grandmother. She was a very caring, concerned and involved Board of Director’s member at Unity Baptist Church. She was an avid singer in the choir. You could always depend on her to say something to bring a smile and laughter to the conversation. I remember her great friendship with sister Bernice Jones. She was always supportive and exceptionally loving, kind and considerate of myself and the First Lady (Shonda). Nicole you are in our prayers and we shall continue to uphold you in our prayers!

Dear Nicole and Richard,
I am sorry to learn of the passing of my Sister in Christ, Diane Rainey. I have known her ever since I can remember. I loved all the times we spent together, the conversations and the time we spent in the choir. I especially loved to hear her sing, “He’s an On Time God”. My prayers are constant for you and your family. May our Lord comfort you during this difficult time.

Sister Nicole and Princess Ashley, my heart is heavy and sad with hearing about the loss of my other mother Sister Diane. She would always smile that bright sunshine smile at me which would instantly encourage me. She was always there to support you Nicole and the Women of Royalty. Our God of Peace, Strength, and Comfort shall embrace you and the family in this time of bereavement. All my love and prayers.
Lovingly,
Pastor Cathy Thomas Hrynko

I truly believe angels and the cloud of witnesses sang “Welcome to Heaven” with gusto and great delight as Diane Rainey entered the Pearly Gates. She was one of the most generous, joyful, energetic, benevolent, and fun loving people I have ever known. One of Diane’s specialties was the ministry of helps to elders. I will never forget, and be eternally grateful for the marvelous support she gave my mother, Gladys Toney Nixon, when she became housebound; and later after mom’s admission to the McGregor Home. Diane blessed mom with numerous acts of kindness such as frequent visits, running errands, keeping her company, and making her laugh and smile.
Sister Rainey frequently blessed me, too. Many a time when I could not attend immediately to a need mom had, I called upon her with a quickness. I could always depend on Diane to help me support my mother with such joy and cheerfulness.
Edward Albert said, “The simple act of caring is heroic.” Truly, Diane Rainey is my amazing “shero”. Rest in peace in the Father’s bosom.
