My husband and were very fortunate to meet Rich through our son Tim. We then we’re blessed to have Rich become part of our extended family when Rachel and Tim married. We knew Rich to be a proud husband, father and grandfather. We knew him to be a music lover and enjoy electronics, and mainly, above all a faithful servant.
We wish God’s healing to all who loved him.
We will see you again Rich in the house of the Lord.

    Rachel,

I remember meeting your dad at a housewarming party several years ago. He impressed me as a good man who clearly was very proud of and very much loved you and your sisters.
I’m very sorry for your loss. I’m sure his memory will be a blessing always.

May the peace of the Risen Lord and Savior Jesus Christ

I knew Rich primarily from his work as a volunteer for Computers Assisting People (CAP). Also from St. Philomena Church after the merger that closed St. Louis. He used his vast technical skills and generous heart to help bridge the Digital Divide in Cleveland. Since inception, CAP has donated over 25,000 PCs and countless volunteer hours to over 550 Cleveland and East Cleveland schools and non-profits – and Rich was there from the beginning. He was quiet but so effective and when he did speak, with that fantastic voice (he should have been on the radio!) people listened. He had a great relationship with my mother who passed away a few weeks ago and I imagine the two of them catching up in Heaven. He will be missed as a family man and Church leader but also as a great community servant. He directly impacted hundreds (thousands?) of lives of people in underserved communities with his consistent, professional and hard work with CAP. Enjoy your eternal reward my friend.

We are so sad to hear of Rich’s passing.
He was such a wonderful man. Kind, considerate, caring, compassionate man who served as spiritual guide for so many. We saw Rich mostly as a husband and a father to the girls. Patient and loving, always shepherding them in the right direction. Our hearts and prayers go out to you, Gloria, Rochelle, Robin, Rachel and Rebecca in your sorrow. What a tremendous loss to your family and the entire community. May you find strength in the coming days from all the lives Rich touched. Now he rests.

Heartfelt condolescences to Gloria and the girls. Fond memories of Richard and his poignant sermons. . . His calm and loving presence at St Louis parish. He was a wonderful example of Christ among us. He will be missed. (I’m sorry I can’t be there in person, but will certainly be there in prayer as I attend livestream.) I’m currently taking care of my mother in Pittsburgh. She is on hospice-stomach CA. May the dear Lord guide us and sustain us all with his loving grace. Your friend in Christ, Francesca

    Gloria and family,
I am sorry for your loss. Rich and I were apprentices together in the late sixties. My wife Sarah and I also were members of the Cleveland Photographic Society with Rich. We both admired Rich all these years. I will miss this soft spoken brother. He told me about his illness at the Old-Timers picnic this past year. So sad! He was one of the good guys! He will be missed.

    Yours truly, Joseph (Joe) Evanko

So sorry for your loss. Richard’s passing is a huge loss to our community as well. He was always kind, always friendly, and always willing to help, especially those in the computer challenged category. Praying for peace and comfort for his family.

  • Theresa Cangelosi

Dear Gloria, Robin, Rachel, Rebecca, and family, Please accept my deepest sympathy for the passing of your husband and father. It was such a shock to see Mr. Woods’ picture on the memorial page of my March/April copy of Northeast Ohio Catholic magazine. I always enjoyed chatting with Mr. Woods a bit when he came into the South Euclid Lyndhurst library. One could feel the peaceful presence of the Lord around him. I’m so happy this funeral website allowed me to attend the mass for Deacon Woods virtually even at this late date. Wishing you peace in Christ, Mrs. Terri Cangelosi (Retired Children’s Librarian)
