Charles’ upbeat spirit and willingness to help anyone will be missed here at DFAS. His contagious smile could make your day brighter when it wasn’t going quite right. He will be missed.

Charles always had a smile on his face and loved talking about his family. He was so proud of his children and spoke of them often. He was a nice person and coworker. He’ll be missed.

    Rest in peace my brother

  • Edward (Marv) Williams, Jr.

Charles Sr. was a kindred spirit to most, and a stranger to few, whom he’d encountered. His infectious smile and sincere outreach toward others were easily observable. Selflessness rightly characterizes one of his core values. The others were just as admirable. He was definitely a ‘people person’ in that you felt comfortable around him, and he’d give his all to assist in uplifting those, most in need. He wore many hats (since the time I’ve known him) throughout his life from banker, computer programmer, economic development, business owner, teacher assistant, assembly line packer, department of defense employee, and I’m sure others – I’m not aware of. But the ones he wore best were Husband, Father, and Man of Faith. I am so fortunate to have known him over the 30 plus years of our brotherhood and PROUD to call him my very good friend, a man of high moral character, a wonderful human being. I’ll miss hearing his voice especially when he called to let me know he was coming back home and to gather the ‘crew’ for reunion. His indelible presence will always be with me (and many others). Of this I am sure. Until another time, another moment, another place, goodnight my friend. You can rest peacefully now. You’re in God’s Kingdom. You’re HOME!

  • Michael Davidson on behalf of his AASEP Family

I cannot remember the exact conversation that Charles and I had, but what I do remember was he excited about joining the Black Employment program and making a difference. His death comes as a great surprise to many of his co-workers, and especially me, but what I know is often times The Most High calls homes his most precious children for another assignment. To his loving wife, children, grandchildren, and siblings our deepest condolences go out to you in this trying time. To our beloved brother, you are now amongst the ancestors; we will call your name and always lift you up. Rest well my brother; you are God’s hands now.

  • Bertha Byrd, co-worker, DFAS

When I first met Charles, such an outgoing person, I felt like we had been knowing each other for years. He was a very positive person and would not let any negative conversation into his spirit. When I would say something crazy and negative, he would say, “We not going to worry about that we are going to give it to the Lord”. Always smiling and laughing…it was contagious. He always had a big Good Morning for you. I will never forget that I found out how old he was by accident…I was like Oops! All he said was its all good…LOL!

To the family, Charles was a special and caring man, wholoved the Lord and family and it came through when he spoke of each of you. I will miss Charles very much here at DFAS, but I know that he’s in a better place. No place like home!

Charles was a selfless character and an unashamed Christian spirit warming hearts wherever he went. Every stranger was as friend. He is our BIG (Blacks in Government) brother not by lip service but life service with accountability unwavering. On the scales of life he provided balance to any environment where planted and others grew better that knew him. This man of his word, this rock of respect will be remembered by all he helped with open arms, open hand, giving with his whole heart. He was no stranger, but just maybe we have entertained and angel unaware…Amen.
